Black Lives Matter Budapest
On Sunday, June 7th at the Freedom Square in front of the U.S. Embassy over 1000 people gathered in a peaceful Memorial for all the lives lost and in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
Budapest you made me proud.
Live music was sung, speeches were given, and the crowd kneeled for 8 minutes and 46 seconds in memory of #GeorgeFloyd, #BreonnaTaylor, and all of the other countless lives lost.
We came out of isolation and banned together to make our voices heard. I'm so proud of all of you who showed up in support.
It was peaceful, heartfelt, and gave me hope. While the fight isn't over, it gave me a sense of peace seeing all of my friends, and aquatints that I've met over the past 3 years of living in Budapest. Them showing up to support my race, my heritage, my history, and begging for change alongside me really touched my heart. There is good in this world and I'm honored to have been standing amongst you all.
All the feels!
