Learn Hungarian
Truth be told, Hungarian is one of the hardest languages to learn. Nothing sounds like what you think it might be. Trust me. But if you pick up a few words, and try them out, the locals will love it. They think it's sooooooo cute when I butcher their language but they're happy I tried. Sok szerencsét! (Good Luck!)
Books

Apps
I try to spend at least 20 mins a day learning some new words on my apps. One of my favorites app to use is the Mondly and 6000 Words to Learn Hungarian, because of the fun games to help me interact.
I tend to start my studies during breakfast. Once I master a category and use it in a sentence as often as I can in a day, I move on to the next. Don't get me wrong, I'm not even speaking sentences... yet! But I've found that if you know a few key words and miming, you can get through anything.
Here are a few apps I use to learn the language and survive the city. Click to download.
Audiobooks
I've yet to try these audiobooks, but they are downloaded on my devices. I think this would be good for travel days, or going for runs on Margrit Island.

Films
Before my husband and I packed up our stuff and moved overseas, we watched some movies to get us prepared for Budapest. You should buy them, they're pretty cheap. Oldies but goodies!
If you're coming to Budapest for vacation or to become an expat, I also made a list of the top apps to download before you land in Budapest, if you want to conquer the city!
